Neurology

If you think your pet needs the services of the Neurology Department, there are a few things you should know.

How do I make an appointment?

Your primary veterinarian should refer patients to the Neurology Department. This ensures that the Neurology Service will have an accurate record of all previous testing and treatments that your pet has received.

Is there anything special I should do before the appointment?

If your pet is an epileptic, it is very beneficial if you can record some of the seizure activity with a video camera for the doctor to review. This is important, since epilepsy is an intermittent condition and being able to see the actual seizure can help in establishing a diagnosis. Also, unless there is a medical reason not to do so, the patient should be fasted the day of the appointment. This will help with any blood tests that need to be done and also allow us to perform anesthesia if it is needed for special testing.
